To what extent do you agree with Rosin's Hypothesis that women are taking over modern society

Disagree;
The article ignores that many single mothers who are bringing up children lack the farther figure
and therefore do a similar thing and be influenced by the people who they are living with
e.g. might walk out on their partner
have negative views towards relationship
lack in school this links to martial deprivation and cultural deprivation
mother might have less time for their child

- Roles have become more equalled now we find couples who share out equal responsibility of tasks and roles
Old breadwinner label has vanished society has headed towards equality

- Now there a new men who do household roles

- some women do the triple shift; household work, emotional support and outside work

women are not worldwide dominant as some women still carry out the old traditional roles
some countries are strict women stay in the household while men go out study and work

Agree

rejects Douglas theory of traditional roles

We've been shown an example of Bethenny a 29 year old women who runs a day care centre, who is also studying to get a nursing degree and raising up a 10 year old daughter
this shows that most single mothers have taken over all responsibility and are capable to manage themselves

- Dual Burden
- Double shift

In her research
three-quarters of 7.5 million jobs were lost by men such as construction, manufacturing, high finance

in 2009 workforce tipped towards women
women are worldwide dominate in colleges and in professional schools except Africa (where girls don't get the opportunity to go school)

economy has been changing and women have been becoming equal as well as higher than men in Rosin's research she has included the US economy in some ways becoming a kind of travelling sisterhood; professional women leave
home and enter workforce
In China Women own 40% of the private business

Matriarchy

  1. WWW: You've picked out plenty of relevant details and also brought in some excellent sociological theory too - well done!
EBI/LR: What you haven't done, though, is put your own thoughts/opinion into your response. Where do you stand on this issue? Do YOU agree with Rosin?
