To a certain extent I agree with the statement “Constant media stories about going crime create a depressing and unbalanced picture of black youngsters.” In the past few years’ youngsters’ whereas relating to the question youth representation in general has been developing from positive to simple, negative and now complex as they have been reported miserably this is because society has socially constructed a meaning and labelled youths as negative and black youths as dangerous and criminals. However, a vital factor the media has represented black youths as negative. This is because the media decides to gives us certain news they do when and how much this refers to Gramsci's theory of hegemony which divide class and how much information is given my the journalist to the audience.
